Jarek Bothur
A graduate of the Jazz Institute of the Music Academy "Karol Szymanowski" in Katowice. A laureate of the "Primus Inter Pares" Medal of Honour of the Music Academy "Karol Szymanowski" in Katowice as the best graduate of 2011. A holder of scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the "Young Poland" programme. Since three years he has been included in the JAZZ TOP survey of Jazz Forum magazine in categories of the "Tenor Saxophone" and the "New Hope". He collaborated with many prominent Polish jazz musicians, such as Zbigniew Wegehaupt, Janusz Muniak, Piotr Baron, Michał Miśkiewicz, Jerzy Małek, Arek Skolik, Marian Pawlik.
He is a member of the Polish edition of the world-class composer Maria Schneider‘s orchestra. Jarosław Bothur performed at festivals in Poland and abroad, such as "Chopin Goes Jazz" Festival in Haus Der Musik (Vienna, Austria 2010), "International Jazz Festiwal" (Bansko, Bulgaria 2011), "III Tarnów International Jazz Contest" (Tarnów 2010), "VII International Festival - Jazz in Ruins" (Gliwice 2011). He is a winner of many prestigious prizes, such as the first prize in Jazz Individuality Competition at the "XXXXVI Jazz at the Oder Festival" (Wrocław 2010), the first prize in "XXXIV International Competition of Young Jazz Bands - Jazz Juniors" (Kraków 2010), or an individual distinction at "Krokus Jazz Festival" (Jelenia Góra 2011).
In 2010 Jarosław Bothur founded his author quartet, with which he won the major part of the prizes mentioned above. The repertoire of the quartet is made up of compositions of Jarosław Bothur. The band has registered an album "Lilla Chezquiz", published by Jazz Forum Records edition in 2010.
