In 2014 we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Oskar Kolberg`s birthday. This amazingly talented man – folklorist and ethnographer, musician and composer, researcher and documentalist – was a brilliant observer of everyday life and an author of magnificent book (over 30 volumes) about folklore. This masterpiece has been, and still is, a rich source of knowledge about our ancestors` lives and world. It also encourages people to rediscover and recreate various forms of folklore and cultural communities.

Maciej Fortuna inspired by Kolberg`s work rearranged traditional songs which were included in the book. The compositions that he created are quite different from those collected in the 19th century.

Fortuna`s band is an international group of young artists who perceive music in a different way than previous generations. The connection with contemporary sound and removal of unnecessary pathos made the band`s music truly universal, modern and communicative.

The concert will include the most beautiful songs from Kolberg`s book, chosen by Maciej Fortuna. These are mostly traditional melodies from the region of Greater Poland.
