Mariia Guraievska was born in Asia, between the icy waters of the Arctic Ocean and the basin of the Sea of Okhotsk, among the gold mines, in a small Yakutian town Ust-Nera Оjmiakon. This Siberian mining settlement is the Northern Pole of Cold: the temperature falls to minus 70 Celsius degrees in January.

Mariia was raised in Ukraine, where she finished music school and studied journalism. As a child, for many years she was a member of a vocal folk group Ladowyci, which performed both at Ukrainian and Polish folk festivals and won many awards. Ladowyci's repertoire was based on meticulous, many years' documentation of traditional songs from Podolia. When she was working in the group, during long summer trips to the inaccessible and forgotten parts of Ukraine, Mariia gathered a lot of authentic music material. It became the base for her own repertoire; the artist has arranged it in her own unique way, mixing it with jazz inspirations.

The band consists of young Polish jazzmen, who are starting to receive more and more recognition: Sebastian Kuchczyński (drums), Max Mucha (double bass) and Mateusz Szczypka (electric guitar). The mysterious and full of energy Ukrainian vocalist, Mariia Guraievska makes the project unique by merging jazz elements with Ukrainian folk music. What enriches the music of Ukraine is the fact, that the nation which created it has for centuries lived at the border of two cultures: Muslim-Orthodox East and Catholic-Protestant West.

The distinctive, white timbre of Guraievska's voice makes the sound of the band complete and gives it the inimitable character.
