The programme of the workshops includes:

- the rules of playing in a rhythm section in different styles of jazz and related music genres
- performing jazz standards with the guitar as the only harmony (chordal) instrument
- guitar accompaniment and leading a melody in a trio
- the rules of improvisation in selected compositions (choosing appropriate scale, building intensity)



Instructors:

Przemysław Strączek

Born in 1976, is considered one of the most talented Polish guitarists by jazz critics. He became a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger, producer, and an educationalist. In 2002, Strączek completed his music education at the University of Silesia, and received a degree from the Jazz Institute at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.

In 2011 he was one of the seven finalists (the only European to qualify) to the 3rd Thailand International Jazz Conference Solo Competition organized by the University of Salaya in Bangkok. He is also a laureate of the Marek Bliziński Jazz Guitarist Competition in Warsaw, which he won twice in 2001 and 2003, and the 2005 All-Poland Competition for Guitar Improvisation in Kielce.

In 2008 Strączek was honored with an Individual Award from the town of Jastrzębie-Zdrój in recognition of his extensive achievements in the sphere of Arts and Culture. In 2011 the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Bogdan Zdrojewski, awarded him an Honorary Medal for Merit to the Polish Culture; and in 2013 Strączek received a Special Award of the Minister of Culture for artistic achievements.

In addition to his own projects, Strączek has recorded and performed with musicians such as Francesco Angiuli, Flavio Li Vigni and Teriver Cheung. Despite his formal musical education, he has expanded his knowledge and abilities participating in various jazz workshops and tutorials, both in Poland, Switzerland, Thailand and the USA.

He frequently performed on radio (Poland, Spain, and United Kingdom) and television shows (Poland), as well as at numerous festivals such as:

Ethan Yi Zhe Seow

Ethan Seow a fiery double bassist who emerged from his classical roots during to his teenage years to realise his dream as a modern jazz bassist who marries the grounding of the old traditions with the fervor and complexities of the modern day global citizen. A passionate educator, he has taken up roles outside of being a musician and educator such as sound engineering, production, sound design and music equipment distribution to gain full knowledge of the intricacies of the experience of a 21st century musician and music lover. This had lent him the ability to carve his own sound and niche, as well as to create a new system of music education that is based off holistic knowledge, from listening to creation, to inspire and empower the modern day musician and music lover.

As a musician, Ethan has gained recognition from the music scene in South East Asia and has performed in all major venues in Singapore as both a classical and jazz musician, Festivals such as World Youth Jazz Festival and Mosaic Festival, as well as regional venues such as No Black Tie, Alexis and Nerofico. He is embarking on new experiences being a sound engineer for the World Youth Jazz Festival and musicals back in Singapore. Also, as a core founding member of the progressive modern group, Home Ground, he also plays the jazz viola as a soloist. Recognised as one of the most unique young musicians in the region, Yi Zhe seeks to further his musical journey through his multiple facets in music and music education, and build the branding of South East Asian music.
