Established in April 2011, group played in over 40 jazz venues and 7 jazz festivals throughout all Poland and issued its first CD – “Silver Protect”. Band consists of fascinating, award-winning young yet extremely experienced jazz musicians who create unforgettable atmosphere and leave you with magical memories.
Piotr Schmidt (b.1985) – jazz trumpeter, graduate cum laude of the Jazz Institute at the Academy of Music, Katowice, Poland. He studied trumpet under the direction of Piotr Wojtasik. In 2006 he won a scholarship to University of Louisville, Kentucky. As an individual musician he received honourable mentions in the 2008 and 2009 Jazz nad Odrą competitions in Wrocław, and in the 2008 “I’st Tarnów Jazz Contest”. Tarnów Jazz Contest. He came third in the 2008 Zmagania Jazzowe in Szczecin, won Grand Prix in 2010 “Novum Jazz Festival” in Łomża and received an award for The Best Soloist in XXXIV Getxo Jazz Festival, Spain 2010.
Tomasz Bura Pianist, composer, soloist and sideman; studied classical music. Winner of various jazz and classical music competitions. Performed in Poland, France, Germany, Ukraine, Russia and the UK. Collaborated with Atma Anur (David Bowie’s and Joe Satriani’s drummer), Michał Barański (Benny Maupin’s and Nigel Kennedy’s bassist), Rick James, Thomas Sanchez, Edi Sanchez, symphonic and chamber orchestras. Known for mature harmonies and improvisational virtuosity, Bura is popular with musicians and audiences in the UK, where he resides. Began composing at the age of six, established a unique sound combining polyrhythms, complex harmonies, ethnic influences and electronic soundscapes.
Sebastian Kuchczyński drummer, born 1986. He studied in Adam Buczek’s class at the Academy of Music in Katowice. He attended Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop in Louisville, Kentucky (USA), being taught by Ed Soph and Steve Davis. He won: - Prize for best soloist at Tarnow Jazz Contest in 2008, - Individual Special Award for the best talent of the festiwal at Tarnow Jazz Contest in 2008, - Individual distinction at Jazz Juniors in 2009 in Krakow, - Individual prize at “Jazz nad Odrą” in 2010 in Wroclaw, He cooperates with many Polish and International jazz groups, including Piotr Schmidt Electric Group, Piotr Wojtasik Quintet, Grzegorz Nagórski Quartet and Maciej Sikała Trio.
Michał Kapczuk – bassist, graduate of the Jazz Department at the Chopin Music School in Warsaw and the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. A leading force behind various musical projects, from pop and rock to jazz; also a sought-after sideman. Kapczuk’s projects have been awarded numerous awards in Poland and abroad. His individual mentions and awards include “Tarnów Jazz Contest 2008″, “Krokus Jazz Festival Jelenia Góra 2009″ and “Jazz Nad Odrą Wrocław 2010″. He is the recipiend of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s „Young Poland” grant. Kapczuk performed in various prestigious festivals in Poland as well as France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium, Holland, Spain, and Germany.
