As Piotr Schmidt comes from Gliwice, among the audience there were a lot of people, who had followed his career and supported him for many, many years. However, they were not the only ones who came to this amazing performance. It`s true that there were a lot of spectators during all of Jazz in the Ruins concerts, but Schmidt Electric itself is a quite recognizable ensemble. After releasing their first album they were chosen the third best electric jazz group in JazzTop 2014 poll, created by the readers of Jazz Forum – the biggest jazz magazine in Poland. What`s the most important, the choice was made by listeners themselves, and not only by music critics. The band`s leader, Piotr Schmidt, also received high notes in the same poll as a trumpeter. Not bad for just a thirty-year-old musician.

Schmidt Electric combines space jazz, drum`n`bass, soul, funk and R&B and the final effect is much more than usual fusion jazz. In their compositions, especially from the newest album, we can also hear the experiments with hip-hop and electronic music. During the almost two-hour-long performance the group presented itself as a real concert machine. There was also place for some surprises and special guests – Bartek Pieszka, one of the best Polish vibraphonists who also comes from Gliwice, and Jakub Mizeracki on guitar.

It`s quite possible that the concert will be available on video but... let`s not anticipate too much.
